UK MS Society helpline

For a quarter-century, the MS Helpline has been providing emotional support and information to anyone affected by MS in the UK, from people newly diagnosed and partners or friends of people with MS, to carers and health professionals.

Over the past four years the helpline has received more than 49,000 enquiries. The MS Society provided thousands of people with support on a range of topics including symptoms and diagnosis, what it’s like to live with the condition and how to access services and benefits.

Janice Weyer who lives with relapsing MS shares how the helpline supported her through own diagnosis:

“I didn’t know anyone else with MS and I didn’t tell many people about my condition. Keeping my MS bottled up was hard on me. I called the MS helpline out of desperation in hopes of speaking to someone that understood the condition.”

“They helped me navigate through the overwhelming amount of information about MS online. It was also wonderful to talk through my emotions and explore what my diagnosis meant for my family and me. The support I’ve received from the helpline has been invaluable – it’s become my crutch in times of crisis!”

Have MS on your mind? The MS Helpline is available for free in the UK Monday to Friday 9am-9pm (not including bank holidays) on 0808 800 8000 or at helpline@mssociety.org.uk.
