Professor Xavier Montalban (CEMCAT, Vall d'Hebron) wins the prestigious MSIF Charcot Award
Jean Martin Charcot made the first diagnosis of MS in 1868, and is considered by many to be the founder of modern neurology.
Since 1969, MSIF’s Charcot Award has recognised the significance of Charcot’s studies into neurological diseases and his pioneering work. This bienneial Award is made in recognition of a lifetime of outstanding research into the understanding or treatment of MS.
The winner is invited to give the Charcot Lecture at the European Committee of Treatment and Research in MS (ECTRIMS) meeting and at MSIF’s Council meeting.
How is the Charcot Award made?
Once every two years, members of our international scientific and medical board are invited to submit nominations for the Charcot Award to the board’s executive committee, which makes the final decision.
