MS Research Australia is celebrating a huge victory this month after being recognised for ‘Outstanding Achievement’ in the 2018 Australian Charity Awards.
The Australian Charity Awards, now in their sixth year, were established to identify, recognise and reward organisations for the exceptional work undertaken through their charitable activities. The awards provide organisations with the opportunity to raise the awareness of their important projects, initiatives and contributions through a national recognition programme.
Matthew Miles, CEO of MS Research Australia, shared his excitement at the news. ‘MS Research Australia is honoured to have been awarded Outstanding Achievement in the Australian Charity Awards. This is the fourth consecutive year we have been recognised for our innovation, transparency and dedication to finding a cure for MS.’
Paired Fellowships
This year’s award primarily recognised MS Research Australia’s most recent initiative: Paired Fellowships – the first of its kind in Australia.
‘The Paired Fellowships have created a program of greater collaboration and less isolated thinking in medical research, with the aim of fast-tracking breakthroughs in MS research’, said Matthew.
‘The initiative enables a senior research fellow and a clinician to work together to break down the barriers between the lab and the people-based research done in the clinic to ensure faster translation of research discoveries into better health outcomes in the community.’
