The Polish MS Society has held the tenth edition of “Symphony of Hearts”, its flagship MS awareness-raising campaign.
The annual campaign aims to raise public awareness of MS and share information about the condition. Events are held throughout the year, ranging from concerts and conferences to poetry and photography contests, culminating in a public information day and concert in the autumn.
More than 2000 participants braved the rain to attend this year’s information day, held at Krakowskie Przedmieście, Warsaw. Members of the public were given the opportunity to learn about MS by taking part in a computer simulation, find out about the activities of the Polish MS Society, and get lessons in first aid from the Polish Red Cross.
Participants were kept entertained with a variety of dance, music, and theatre performances, including dances from couples in wheelchairs, a display of the Argentinian tango by Tango Integracja, theatre from the Warsaw chapter of the Polish MS Society, and a show called “Butterflies” from street theatre group “AKT” about life with disabilities.
The day concluded with a celebratory gala at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, during which the Society presented awards to people whose work helps to share information and raise awareness about MS. A very special award was presented to Scholastyka Śniegowska, who created “Symphony of Hearts” ten years ago and has been organising it ever since.
The Society will round up the events with a charity concert at the National Philharmonic in November.
